Meeting of FBN Bulgaria in Sandanski
On 16 and October 17, 2009 the members of FBN Bulgaria gathered in Sandanski. The meeting was held in Park Hotel Pirin, kindly hosted by Mr. Stephen Sharlopov.
Special guests were Mr. Alfonso Libano, Vice President of GEEF and member of one of the most successful Spanish business families and Mr. Jesus Casado, Secretary General of GEEF.
"The family business in Bulgaria is a young managed by the so-called "First generation" - said Mr. Libano - "Our colleagues here will still face the most serious challenge in front of the family companies - the motivation of their heirs. The world’s practice shows that only 15% of the companies which started as family business and later became public, continued to develop successfully. "
"Bulgaria is the first Eastern European country which joined the FBN (Family Business Network) and GEEF. Started from 6 companies and founders in 2007 today it has are now 26 member companies, represented in all sectors of the economy, manufacturing, construction, real estate and services” said Mr. Christo Iliev, President of the FBN Bulgaria. "We are about to start a survey to show what part of the Bulgarian economy is formed by family businesses”.
